Bridge Creek Bobcats Basketball Preview – Presented By First National Bank And Trust

BOYS
Coach: Kevin Korstjens
20-21 Record: 12-12

Head coach Kevin Korstjens returns a few players with experience, but several players are young and will need some court time to gain the experience they will need for a long season. “We have a young group that loves to play. I’m excited to see what we will do,” coach Korstjens said. Caden Russell (6-3, Sr.) is one of the returning players looking to help this team mature and develop into a contender. Russell averaged 11.6 points a game last year with 7.1 rebounds. Russell will start at forward with Jacob Ojeda (5-10, So.) playing guard. Ojeda averaged 9.5 points, 3.1 rebounds and 2.1 assists as a freshman last year. The pair will give the Bobcats points on the offensive end and solid play on the defensive end of the court. Also look for Phillip Gingerich who brings leadership, discipline and effort to the court whether it’s in practice or a game.

GIRLS
Coach: Bretlin Rowell
20-21 Record: 19-7

After a 19-win season, head coach Bretlin Rowell is looking to take a young team and mold them into a contender. “We are a young team with only one senior this season. We are excited to rebuild and reload out arsenal and see what we are capable of,” said coach Rowell. The senior is Summer Fergerson (5-4, Sr.). Fergerson has an excellent outside shot and leads this team by example. Her three-point range will keep a defense honest, but her willingness to drive to the basket will keep them on their heels. Kaitlyn Powell (5-11, Fr.) has dedicated herself to learning the game and improving. Her play could be the X-factor for the team this season. Morgan Whitaker (Jr.) worked her way into the starting lineup last year thanks to her ability to shoot the three and play great defense. Look for Whitaker to guard the opponent’s best player every night.
