The Christian Heritage Academy Crusaders’ volleyball team did not lose a lot in the offseason and is ready to get back on the court and fight for the championship. Head coach Heather Benedix is looking forward to what her team will be able to accomplish this season.
“This year we have most of our team returning from last year,” she said. “We are young but growing in experience. The ladies have put in a lot of work in the weight room this offseason, so we look forward to seeing how that translates to the court. These ladies love the game and love their teammates. They are a great group of ladies.”
Isabelle Harper is a junior this season and is a three-year varsity starter for the Crusaders. She is a key component of the team’s success. “Isabelle is the one that we have to get the ball to if we are needing a kill. She is tough to stop offensively and we are excited to see what she can do this season.”
Along with Harper, the Crusaders have a number of other players that will look to make big contributions this season. One of those players is Reese Kufahl, who is an underclassman to keep an eye on. Though she is one of the younger members of the team, Kufahl brings a lot of energy and excitement to the court. Hannah Joy Nutham is a hard worker that does a lot of things that do not always get recognized. But she is a valued member of the team and will make an impact. A solid player and teammate on and off the court is Morgan Hale. She is always there for her team and her teammates and is happy to do whatever she can to help her team.
Other Crusaders that will look to help the team have a successful season are Audrina Johnston, Tryina Newsom, Harlee Peck, Ashlynne Hale, Carly Mohr, Morgan Tutt, Laynie Smith, Hannah Spurgeon, Avery Whitmill.
