J. DEE MARINKO

OFFENSE
Entering his first year as head coach, J. Dee Marinko says he’s proud of the way his team has worked this offseason. He says the Comets have more kids playing football this year and learning the process that Marinko and his coaches work with. Offensively, six starters return for the Comets. The offense will use a spread formation that is designed to get the ball in his playmaker’s hands. Wide receiver Elijah Green (6-2, 185, Jr.) is a talented player that has the ability to play in multiple positions. Green is a VYPE Top 100 selectee and one of the top receivers in the state. Marinko says Green uses his size well and makes tough, contested catches in traffic. Joining Green at receiver are Jailen Toure (6-1, 180, Sr.), Mason Fletcher (5-7, 150, Jr.), Aren Underwood (6-1, 175, Jr.). In the backfield, Caleb Freelen (6-0, 170, Sr.) will get the bulk of the carries at running back. Up front, Quinn Keast (6-2, 330, Jr.) will look to anchor the Comet offensive line.
DEFENSE
Defensively, six starters return for the Comets, who will use a 3-4 as their base. Marinko says he wants his defense to play fast and create turnover. Elijah Green is expected to be one of the leaders for this defense from his safety position. Marinko says Green is a ball hawk in the secondary and a shutdown defender as well. Green, who already has Division 1 offers, is also a weapon in the return game. Joining green in the secondary are corner Mason Fletcher and safety Caleb Freelen. At linebacker Jaon House (6-0, 165, So.) and Jailen Toure will look to make plays and get to the quarterback. Quinn Keast will be tasked with anchoring the three-man front from his nose position.
