BOYS
Coach: Evan Smith
20-21 Record: 14-5
The Cougars’ basketball season ended earlier than they wanted last season, but they ended up with a stellar 14-5 record. Head coach Evan Smith says that his squad is fully intact and ready to get to work. “We did not lose anyone to graduation last year,” he said. “So I think we will have a solid team this season. The younger players are advancing quickly with the leadership of a much-awaited senior class. This is the first senior class for North Rock Creek’s new high school. The players have been working hard and the gains are obviously showing in their performance.” Point guard Noah McMullan (5-9, Sr.) is a leader on the court and in the classroom. He looks to have an outstanding season. Diego Garcia (6-2, Sr.) is a quiet leader on the court and is making a comeback from an injury. An all-around great kid, Mitchell James (5-11, Sr.), has the charter traits that all coaches are looking for and is not afraid to compete. Other players that will play a role this season are Jordan Coody (6-1, Jr.), Jace McRay (5-11, Jr.), Carter Harvey (6-1, Sr.), Rayne Jones (6-3, Sr.), Takota Bryce (6-0, Sr.), Kaden Woodward (6-0, Jr.), Keaton Brinton (6-4, Sr.), Tyson Tucker (6-2, Sr.), Tommy Price (5-10, Sr.), Elijah Bloyed (6-2, Sr.), Seven Cawvey (6-0, So.), and David King (6-0, So.).
GIRLS
Coach: Charity Kilinc
20-21 Record: 9-9
With the Lady Cougars being new to the high school basketball scene, head coach Charity Kilinc says her squad is a good mix of upper and lower classmen and is ready to make some noise. “With us being a newer high school, we will have freshman through seniors,” she said. “The freshmen we will be adding will help tremendously. Each year we have gotten better and are slowly but surely making a name for ourselves. We have definitely fought from the bottom to get where we are at and I have some great seniors who will lead this team to success.” Point guard Katlyn Masquas (5-4, Jr.) will continue to be a leader on the court. She is a born leader and has the hustle factor that you cannot teach. She has an incredible basketball IQ. Olivia McRay (5-6, So.) has a quick release and a beautiful shot. She has a great determination to win and has a lot to offer to the team. Senior guard Macy Buoy (5-9, Sr.) has a long body and is a physical threat under the goal. Jayden Haney (5-4, Sr.) is a born leader and is a selfless player. She is a top defensive player on the team and always gets the job done and is extremely coachable.
