There is a lot that goes into being a successful athlete. Hours at practice and in the gym, getting mentally prepared, and keeping your body healthy and prepared to compete. But for Anna DeGraffenreid, there are also some figures in her life that have helped her reach the place where she is today.
“God is definitely my biggest motivation,” she said. “He blessed me with talents of volleyball so when I play, I want to glorify him. My dad has always had a big influence on me, he has always told me how hard you are willing to work will show how successful you will be.”
Anna is a junior at Oklahoma Christian School, where she is a setter and defensive specialist for the Saints. She enjoys playing volleyball and hopes to play at the collegiate level. She is getting some assistance with that from the National Scouting Report, with whom she has had a great experience.
“Working with NSR for recruiting has been great,” DeGraffenreid stated. “Corey Else personally has become a friend to me and has helped me communicate with so many schools.”
In order to be able to compete at the next level, Anna knows that she has to work hard, even when it is not easy.
“Being able to get better and grow in my skill has taken a lot of sacrifices,” she said. “Not being able to go hang out or on trips and being at practice or tournaments instead. At the moment it might feel like you are making the wrong decision to not go to the events, but ultimately it pays off in the end.”
Whenever she dons the Saints uniform, DeGraffenreid knows that she is playing for more than just herself.
“Being able to represent OCS is one of the best things,” Anna said. “I love how much the community supports my team and program. All of the teachers, coaches, and other student-athletes support each other and it leads to much success all around.”
