OFFENSE
The Tecumseh Savages look to improve from the 2020 season, after posting a five and seven record. With returning players such as Jay Mitchell (6-5, 310, Sr.) and Monte Valois (6-0, 210, Sr.), the Savage have a chance to make a run to get to the postseason. “(Mitchell) Big, strong athlete, is a physical force for us on the offensive line,” head coach Ty Bullock said. “Monte will be in his second year as our starting QB. He is constantly trying to improve himself physically and also by putting in extra time to learn the small details of football,” Bullock said. Also returning to the offense are running backs Dylan Graham (5-10, 175, Sr.) and Chad Wynne (5-11, 178, Sr.) who combined for nearly 800 rushing yards a season ago, as well as five touchdowns. Wide receiver Jaxon Meyers (6-3, 185, Sr.) looks to get more touches on offense this season, after contributing 271 yards and a pair of touchdowns last season. On the offensive line, one returning player to keep an eye out for is Jack Rogers (6-0, 235, Sr.). With 26 pancake blocks last season, Rogers looks to hold down the center position. The Savage fans can also look forward to a transfer from Mustang, Brennon Carter (6-6, 270, Sr.). With size like Carter, the coaches are excited for his potential on the offensive line. The Savage offense looks to run a power spread offense, using multiple formations to get numbers at the point of attack.
DEFENSE
Tecumseh’s defense looks to bring back five players from last year, including Tyler Girod (6-2, 230, Sr.) who played at defensive end, and tallied up nearly 60 tackles, as well as six and a half sacks. Graham looks to play at the linebacker position, after a very successful junior year campaign with 76 tackles, three sacks, an interception, and also a touchdown. On the line, the Savage bring back Andrew Hobbs (6-2, 245, Sr.) and Mason Whitman (6-2, 265, Sr.) who had 21 and 26 tackles, respectively. Playing defensive back, Brynnen Epperley (5-10, 152, Sr.) has a couple years under his belt, and looks to add to his two interceptions last season. Lining up with Girod, Wyatt England (6-2, 225, Jr.) will fill the other defensive end position after posting 32 tackles a season ago. Defensive coordinator Larry Joubert plans to run a fundamental 4-3 defense, letting his athletes play fast.
