Yukon’s Caydance Mikhelotti – CV Tech Athlete Spotlight

By Derrick Smith

When students hit their high school years, some have an idea of what direction they want to head in once they graduate. Whether it is going straight into the workforce, going to college, or something else, they have a part of the plan started. Caydance Mikhelotti, who attends Yukon High School, also takes classes at the Cowan Campus of Canadian Valley Technology Center. She says that her classes there are helping her get a start on her future.

“I first heard about CV Tech when the seniors came to our school and talked about the different programs that are available,” she said. “It made me interested because they are programs to help students find the right career for them in the future and let them get that head start to know what major to take in college. Personally, I was always fascinated with health growing up. A lot of my family either worked in the health industry or had health issues, So I decided to take the Health Careers 2 program.”

Caydance enjoys the program and atmosphere at CV Tech and says that she would highly recommend it to anyone.

“I would say do it,” she stated. “It is so worth it. You get to experience fun activities and get to learn more about a subject you are already interested in. It is not going to be like high school classes because it is a subject that you want to learn. The hours feel short since you are so into it. With me wanting to go into the medical field, CV Tech is helping me to be prepared by helping me get my CNA license and soon my AUA and phlebotomy licenses. It has helped me know what major I will soon be taking in college.”

A senior at Yukon, Mikhelotti is a member of the school’s swim team and track team. She has had a lot of people that have helped her get to where she is today. But out of them all, there are two that have had the biggest impact.

“My parents have always been there for me, no matter how my events went. They helped me work past and move on to the next one.”
