McLoud’s Jordyn Dooley – Gordon Cooper Technology Center Profile

By Chris Cox

McLoud High School junior Jordyn Dooley has a lot on her plate. First off, she is a soccer player. As any high school athlete can attest, being a part of a team is a commitment that doesn’t leave much room for other things especially if you have high expectations, which Dooley, and her McLoud teammates do.

As a soccer player, Dooley says her goals for herself, and her team go hand in hand.

“My goal for myself and my team is to get stronger,” she says. “I want to become stronger for myself so I can play better. I want to my team to become stronger so we can win and hopefully go to state.”

On top of playing soccer, Dooley is also taking the steps needed to set herself up for her future career as a firefighter. One of those steps is taking part in Gordon Cooper Technology Center’s Criminal Justice and Emergency Services program.

“I chose the Criminal Justice and Emergency Services program because it provides me with the opportunity to learn about the work of law enforcement officers, EMTs, and firefighters,” she says. “I chose this program because I plan on becoming a firefighter and this course will help me learn more about firefighting, along with other jobs as well.”

Troy Thompson, Gordon Cooper’s Criminal Justice and Emergency Services instructor, believes Jordyn’s hard work and dedication will help her in her quest to become a firefighter.

“She displays a high interest level with an eagerness to learn about the different areas and fields in the program,” Thompson says. “She has great leadership qualities. Her caring attitude, dedication, and leadership qualities will assist her to be successful in this career field.”

Along with soccer and the coursework at Gordon Cooper, Dooley is a member of National Honors Society and a small business owner. You can find her at her working at her store For the Love of Jo in Newalla.
