Prague High School’s Mattie Rich spent her entire high school journey as a member of the FFA chapter, following in the footsteps of her parents and siblings.
“I have been involved in the FFA since my eighth-grade year which is five years total. I have grown up on a ranch in Prague Oklahoma with both parents and siblings being involved in FFA,” said Rich. “I compete in food science, animal science quiz bowl, ag sales, public speaking and showing. I most enjoy showing goats that I raise and Public Speaking. I competed at the state level in Extemporaneous in 2022.”
Rich was a member of the varsity basketball team at Prague and said she loved being around her teammates.
“I love the relationships I have created with my team and teammates. Our friendships and bonds do not fade away off the court. The support that we show each other is hard to find anywhere else,” Rich said. “My favorite memory as a student-athlete was made at a senior camp in Vinita. We stayed the night for almost a week and grew very close to each other while played many games a day.”
Rich now attends school at Central Christian College in Kansas on a basketball scholarship.
“I will major in pre-law and become a lawyer,” said Rich.
She offers this advice to anyone looking to join FFA. “I would encourage anyone interested in joining the FFA to do so. I would also encourage them to be involved and take every opportunity available,” said Rich.
