Shawnee Wolves Boy’s Basketball Team Preview – Presented By Natalie Arnett of State Farm

BOYS

Coach: Eric Litherland

20-21: 16-7

The Shawnee Wolves are trying to do something not many teams have done, make it to three straight state tournaments under three different head coaches. First year head Coach Eric Litherland returns to his alma mater after spending the last several years down the road at Bethel. He believes this year’s team has the talent to go a long way. “We have some experience players coming off back to back state tournament visits. We are led by an experienced point guard and another guard that can flat out shoot. We will be able to compete this year in Class 5A,” Litherland said.

The two experienced guards he mentioned are Jaylon Orange (5-9, Sr.) and Tanner Morris (6-2, Sr.). Orange is a multi-sport star that shines on the football field as well as the basketball court. He averaged 11.7 points, 3.9 assists, and 3.8 rebounds per game last year for Shawnee. Morris is a sharp shooter that averaged 14.9 points to lead the Wolves. He also averaged 3.3 rebounds and a team high 2.1 steals per game last season. If Morris puts together a solid season, he should join the 1,000 point club and could end his career as Shawnee’s all-time leading scorer. Other guys expected play a big role are T.J. Currie-Bishop (6-1, Jr.) and Kayden Shaw (6-5, Sr.). Both guys should get plenty of playing time and contribute in a big way.
