The goal of every team, no matter the sport, is to win a championship. To accomplish that goal dedication to getting better every day is required. Tecumseh cheer coach Audra Bullock sees that dedication in her girls. She sees it in practice every day and even saw it as far back as summer workouts.
“We had Summer Pride this year,” Bullock says. “They had to be there at six o’clock in the morning, four days a week, all summer long and they were there. I’d say these are hard-working, get the job done type of girls.”
That hard-working attitude starts from the top down.
“We don’t do captains because our seniors are our leaders,” Bullock says. “With there being nine seniors, it pretty much makes all of them a leader.”
After making to state in the Game Day competition last year for the first time in several years, Bullock says these girls want to get back there and improve on their 12th place finish.
“State is definitely the expectation,” Bullock says. “And then we would like to place. That would be really exciting for us.”
While some coaches might shy away from talking about those big goals, Bullock says her squad embraces them.
“We talk about it regularly, daily probably,” Bullock says. “We work hard and that’s our end goal. That’s what we want to do. We want that to be an expectation and not an exception.”
Tecumseh’s Game Day regional competition is set for November 6th and the Game Day state competition is set for November 12th and 13th.
Outside of the competition aspect, Bullock says her squad loves game days.
“That’s where my girls live their best lives,” Bullock says. “They live for Friday nights. They absolutely love being on the sidelines. They are so excited and always have a smile on their face. They love getting loud. They love leading the crowd. They love the student section and cheering back forth with them. They love everything about it.”
The Tecumseh Cheer roster includes Lily Armstrong (Sr), Caleigh Crowley (Sr), Gabrielle Daniels (Sr), Emma Hardy (Sr), Kelsey Rackley (Sr), Cami Stearman (Sr), Kialee Hall (Sr), Aliya Prado (Sr), Karleigh Wood (Sr), Katelyn LaPoma (Jr), Hailee Durham (Jr), Cheyenne Hill (Jr), Lakota Axton (Jr), Kloie Roller (Soph), Sarah Miller (Soph), and Dyllan Dodd (Soph).
