Bridge Creek Bobcats – Softball Spotlight

Bridge Creek Softball

In the blink of an eye, the fastpitch softball season is close to being over. But for the staff and players, the season started during the summer when their peers were hanging out the pool. Bridge Creek head coach Cory Underhill knew this team had potential and a solid work ethic to build on.

“We are a team with tremendous characters and work ethic. We have eight returning starters and some very solid freshmen and sophomores,” Underhill told VYPE before the start of the season.

With 19 wins on the board and two games remaining on the regular schedule, Underhill said there have been many positives he’s seen from the team this year.

“The girls have showed huge gains in effort, attitude and energy,” said Underhill.

Offensively the team has shown the ability to manufacture runs and put points on the board.

“We are averaging about 7 runs a game so couldn’t ask for better output there. We tend to chase pitches out of the zone and it puts us behind good pitching. I expect steady improvement on pitch selection for the remainder of the season,” said Underhill.

Several players have stepped up this season and embraced their new roles on the team.

“Our incoming freshmen and sophomores have filled in all holes left in our lineup from last season. I cannot express enough the impact they’ve had in circle, in the field and at the plate. I have not been surprised but definitely very pleased to see our girls playing to their potential against the best teams in 4A,” said Underhill.

As the season comes to an end, coach Underhill said the team is ready for post season play.

“Down the stretch we are headed to Elk City for regionals, and they have a very talented group that knocked us out last year. We are going to show up and find a way to get it done this year meeting that challenge head on,” said Underhill.

Every team has a personality and coach Underhill said this group is all in for one another.

“The tremendous work ethic and change in attitude this year has been the most pleasing to be a part of it. These girls root for each other and have each other’s back. It is simply a fun group to watch when they strive to “Bring The Juice BTJ Today.”
