Norman North’s Jayden Kieffer – Raising Cane’s Superfan

By Derrick Smith

As a student at Norman North High School, Jayden Kieffer enjoys that school spirit that she sees, not only as a student at the high school but also as a member of the community. She says that pride in the school is as important for the community as it is for the school.

“For a school to have great school spirit is important for a few reasons,” she said. “It enables a healthy environment with the people around you. Also, having a community of people supporting each other is mutually beneficial for everyone.”

Kieffer, who is a senior, is a member of the Timberwolves tennis squad. She has enjoyed her time representing her school as an athlete and says that her favorite memory over the years is the progression that she has made as an athlete.

“One of my favorite memories during high school is being on the tennis team,” she stated. “I grew so much and we played so well each year. I’m proud that I was able to be a part of that.”

Norman North tennis coach, Phil Corbett says that Jayden has not only been an asset to his team, but also to the school as a whole.

“Jayden is so well respected on our team,” he said. “She works hard, plays hard, and manages to enjoy it all. The Freshman this year have really looked up to Jayden and her doubles partner Liza as amazing role models. I have had coaches approach me at tournaments this year and tell me they love Jayden and Liza. Overall, Jayden is hardworking, listens, desires to be better, communicates, and leads before anything else. This girl has done it right for four years in this program making my life much easier as a coach helping create the most fun and drama-less group of kids I have ever coached.”

Though she loves tennis and being involved in supporting other athletic teams, Kieffer says that the academic side of the school thrives as well, if not more.

“Our school has a particularly strong academic program,” she said. “To be honest, I will like learning from my teachers and even my friends.”
