Norman North’s August Grove – Student Athlete – Presented by OSO Orthodontic Specialist

Sophomore August Grove has played the game of softball since she was around dix years old. Like many of her peers on the team, Grove knows turning things around can come as a single hit, an extra run, or a diving stop at third. It’s something the Norman North girls are focused on this season.

“Our slow pitch season started not how we hoped but we are pushing for improvement I think everyone’s doing a great job at giving every game 110 percent. We hope to finish out our season with some big wins to lead us into regionals,” said Grove.

Grove said the team is coming together and she enjoys being around her teammates. Teammates she loves to talk about in a very positive way.

“What I love about being a student-athlete is the support. I feel like my peers that are also student-athletes do an amazing job at supporting our teams. I love my teammates support, we are all constantly yelling and pushing each other whether it’s on the field, in the weight room, or even on the track. Our team especially loves to be loud and supportive in the dugout during games. I would say the teammate that impresses me the most is Marcella Oballa, because she never fails to have the most positive attitude and always picks up her teammates after success or even after errors,” said Grove.

The road trips and dinners are fun, and this team is learning it’s okay to have fun.

“My favorite memory from our team is probably when we all get to eat dinner together whether that’s after games, or just for team bonding, we never fail to have an amazing time and there are definitely no other girls I’d rather be there with,” said Grove.

The sophomore still has plenty of softball left in her high school career, but it’s never too early to start thinking about the future.

“After I graduate, I plan to play collegiate level softball, and I want a degree somewhere along the lines of sports medicine or kinesiology. One day I hope to be a physical therapist, or a personal team athletic trainer,” said Grove.

In her free time, Grove said she loves to read, shop and spend time with friends.
