VYPE: What are your personal goals this year?
Ava: Some of my personal goals this season would be to enjoy my senior year of volleyball and high school and to live in the moment.
VYPE: What is the most fun you have had in the last year?
Ava: I think the most fun I have had this past year was getting to visit and play with my little cousins in Kentucky!
VYPE: Who is your favorite teacher from any grade and why?
Ava: My favorite teacher would be my freshman/sophomore engineering teacher, Mr. Twomey. He introduced me to many different areas of engineering and sparked my interest to become an engineer. Mr. Twomey taught me many skills that I can carry beyond the classroom.
VYPE: What is your favorite athletic memory?
Ava: My favorite athletic memory would be at a tournament during my sophomore year. I had a rough start to the season. Our coach was talking to our team about halfway through the tournament and said, “Ava has been making D1 passes all day! I am going to text the varsity coach and tell her how good you’re doing!” In that moment, I felt so accomplished and that I had earned my spot on the team.
VYPE: What teammate has left the biggest impression on you and why?
Ava: Kiaya Jordan (class of 2021) has left the biggest impression on my life. She has been there for me in both the highs and the lows. I can always turn to Kiaya if I need advice or encouragement!
VYPE: Who on your team has the best impression of your coach and who says the funniest things during games?
Ava: I’d say Brilyn Ross is the funniest girl on our team. There is not one day where Brilyn doesn’t make us laugh!
VYPE: You can pick any place for a summer vacation, where do you go and who do you take with you?
Ava: If I could go anywhere for summer vacation, I would go to Japan with my sister. My dad was stationed in Okinawa, Japan when I was very young, and my sister was actually born in Japan. My sister and I want to visit some of the places our parents toured!
VYPE: If you had $500 and had to spend it in the next 24 hours, how would you spend it?
Ava: If I had $500, I would either buy a new phone or laptop with that money.
VYPE: Here is your chance to say hello, goodbye or thank you to anyone you wish.
Ava: I want to thank my mom. My mom is like my best friend; I can tell her anything. She has been through the high and lows with me. I appreciate all the time and money she has put into my volleyball career and my education.
