9 Q’s with Carl Albert’s Cody Voelker – Presented by FNB Community Bank

VYPE: Who has been your favorite coach throughout your career and how did they impact you as a player?
Cody Voelker: My favorite coach from my career has to be Coach Madden. Coach Madden has helped me in every way possible, not just on the field but in the film room, too. He’s shown me how to see the game from a coach’s aspect of it.

VYPE: Did you have any teammates that you admire or that supported you?
CV: A teammate that has helped me would be Tanner Norman. Tanner has really been my big brother through the entire time I’ve been at Carl Albert. He’s helped me a lot on the field, I would not be the player I am today without him.

VYPE: Who was your favorite teacher and how were they influential in your life?
CV: A teacher that has had the biggest influence on me would be Mrs. Lassiter from Carl Albert Middle School. She was my 7th grade English teacher and even when I left, she has kept contact with me and checks in on me regularly.

VYPE: What preparation do you feel played a role in such a successful season for the Titans?
CV: Something that really prepared our team for this season was how much our coaches poured into all of us. They put a lot of their time into making sure we all were prepared for the game we were about to play that week.

VYPE: What has your sport taught you that you use in your daily life?
CV: This sport has taught me that it takes a lot more than just me. It taught me that you need people around you to steer you in the right direction. I feel that is a blessing to have.

VYPE: What has been your favorite memory in your sport?
CV: My favorite memory from my sport has to be the win over Guthrie. We were down by half, but we didn’t let that affect us in anyway. We just stayed together and kept pushing and came out with the win.

VYPE: What did it mean to you to win the Class 5A State Title? You’re a STATE CHAMP!! CONGRATS!
CV: It means a lot to win State. We worked our tails off all season. And to win it with the guys we had, it was a true blessing to be a part of it.

VYPE: What did this season mean to you as a player?
CV: It was a blessing. I got the opportunity to be on a great team and be with the best people I’ve ever met; I’ll never forget the memories I’ve made with them.

VYPE: What are your plans after high school?
CV: I don’t know what my plans are after high school. I would like to go to college, but I’ll just have to wait and see what life deals me.
