Carter Reese

Carl Albert High School

VYPE: Carter, how long have you competed in tennis and what are you playing this year?

Reese: I have been playing tennis since my 6th grade and was coached by Coach Jeff Mays at Carl Albert Middle School. I am playing No.1 singles.

VYPE: What do you enjoy most about the sport?

Reese: I enjoy so many things about tennis, but what I enjoy most is the opportunity to meet and compete with new opponents every tournament. Everybody plays the game differently, and it’s exciting to be able to see so many different styles of the game throughout the season.

VYPE: Tennis is an individual and team sport. What do your teammates mean to you?

Reese: My teammates at Carl Albert aren’t just my teammates. They are my friends. They are someone I can count on and rely on. We work hard and have bonded with each other while making each other a little bit better every day. They keep me accountable. I couldn’t ask for better teammates.

VYPE: What area of your game have you worked to improve this year?

Reese: My mindset has improved more than anything. Your attitude and mindset are the most crucial parts of tennis. You must lock in and stay in the right mind. You cannot lose focus.

VYPE: What teammate has impressed you this season?

Reese: Tyler Shaw has shown me the ropes throughout high school. It is his senior year, and he always works hard for the team. He has influenced our team greatly throughout his high school career.

VYPE: Do you have a favorite memory while competing for CAHS?

Reese: Favorite memories for me come from the excitement after every tough win. It’s always a good time when the team gets a win and is celebrated.

VYPE: What other activities are you involved in at Carl Albert?

Reese: Carl Albert offers so many things for a student to be involved in. I am a part of the cross country team, I am a special ed tech and am able to be involved in our YFC club (Youth For Christ).

VYPE: What are your plans after you graduate?

Reese: I am not 100 percent sure what I would like to do after high school. I would love to play college tennis if the opportunity presents itself, but I am also very interested in the automotive industry.

VYPE: How do you like to spend your free time?

Reese: I love working on cars. In my free time, I am usually wrenching on something.
