Carl Albert’s Tanner Norman – Athlete Spotlight – Presented by Smile Studio of Midwest City

by Trina Walker

Tanner Norman’s love for sports is split between football and baseball. He is honored to have played in state championship games for both sports at Carl Albert High School.

This is an honor few get and it says a lot about the incredible athleticism of Tanner and his teammates.

As a senior at CAHS, Tanner is proud to be part of the athletic tradition his school is known for. “The name ‘Titans’ has a lot of history when it comes to sports and I’m thankful I get to represent and carry that legacy on,” he said. “Hard work beats talent when talent doesn’t want to work hard,” is the best advice he has ever been given. “I work really hard for the results I get and that makes me passionate about my sports.”

Tanner has played baseball the longest, starting when he was only three-years-old. In sixth grade he started playing football because it sounded fun. Football and baseball have taught Tanner a good work ethic but also how to handle adversity.

With state championships in both football and baseball it is difficult for Tanner to pick a favorite memory. He says, “they are both definitely up there.” He is thankful to all of his coaches for everything they have taught him in both football, baseball and in the game of life.

“Thank you to my parents for everything you do for me everyday! Last but not least I’d like to thank God for making all of this possible,” he says.

Tanner has been positively influenced by teachers and teammates. “Mr. Moore, my 5th grade teacher, taught with a lot of pride and was very relatable. The left tackle from my sophomore year named Charles also left a big impact. He was a hard worker and taught me a lot when it came to the game of football.”

In addition to athletics, Tanner is involved in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
