Choctaw’s Bre Curry – Softball Spotlight – Presented by Landers Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram of Norman

When high school athletes step on the field or court to compete, they are playing for more than just themselves. They are also a representative for the school name that is on their jersey. Breanna Curry is a multisport athlete at Choctaw High School and she says that it is an honor to play for her school and community.

“I will always be so grateful to be able to play for Choctaw,” she stated. “Growing up, I always looked up to the girls that played and would have never believed  that I would get to be in their shoes. The community is truly something special and we have many kids that come and support our games so it is very humbling to be able to be a role model to them.”

Breanna, who is a senior, plays softball, basketball, and golf for the Yellowjackets. Outside of sports, she is part of the National Honor Society, the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and she is on the board for the Student Council.

Becoming the player that she is today has been a journey of hard work and dedication for Breanna. The work may get tough at times, but she is just happy to have the ability to get out and compete.

“It has taken thousands of hours of hard work and dedication,” she said. “Still going up to the field to get in extra work even when I’ve been performing good or just didn’t feel like going. Knowing that God blessed me with the life I have to be able to go out and play softball and do the things I love is enough motivation within itself.”

When game days roll around, Curry and her team are ready to face whoever is on the schedule, but she says that there is one team that she looks forward to a little more.

“We all love to beat Owasso,” she stated. “We’re big rivals with them and every time we play them it’s a competitive game with a state tournament type atmosphere.”
