Choctaw’s Ethan Rone – Athlete Spotlight – Presented By Rib Crib

By Derrick Smith

Athletes that want to be the best have to be dedicated to their sport. They have to be willing to put in the work, even on the days when they do not feel like it.

Ethan Rone is a senior at Choctaw High School and he plays a couple of sports for the Yellowjackets. As a multisport athlete, Rone knows what it takes to be his best.

“Most importantly, it takes a lot of hard work,” he said. “You also have to never quit, even when something stands in your way. I have had to keep pushing to be the best version of myself when I step onto the baseball field, whether it be for practice or games.”

This will be Ethan’s fourteenth season playing baseball. He currently plays second base, third base, and catcher. He is also a member of the football team. He has accumulated some awards from both sports. He received All-Conference and All-District honors at linebacker in football this past season. He also won Defensive Player of the Year at Choctaw.

Rone has had a couple of people throughout his life that have made an impact on him.

“My parents are definitely the biggest role models in my life,” he said. “They have given so much and I am so grateful for them. Another would have to be my favorite teacher, Coach Brow. He is super chill and he has taught me a lot about life and how I can apply baseball into it.”

There have been many moments throughout his career that Ethan remembers fondly. But out of all of them, he says that there is one moment that he calls his favorite: when he knew what his near future would hold.

“I am going to play baseball at Murray State College after graduation,” he said. “Getting the chance to receive a scholarship to play at the next level is something that I have always wanted to do and I am so excited to have the opportunity.”
