Del City’s Ava Vara – Softball Spotlight – Presented by RibCrib

In the dynamic arena of Del City High School, Ava Vara emerges as a standout figure, her prowess on the softball field giving a glimpse into her unwavering commitment and resilience.

Ava’s journey into softball began at a young age of four, under the guidance of her father, whose dedication and hard work in baseball set the foundation for Ava’s own athletic endeavors. “My dad… he’s the hardest worker I know,” Ava reflected, her admiration for her father evident.

However, it’s Ava’s mother who serves as her source of inspiration, embodying strength and resilience, instilling in Ava the drive to strive for excellence every day. “My mom inspires me… She’s what motivates me to be better,” Ava said, filled with gratitude for her mother’s influence.

Navigating the demanding terrain of academics and athletics requires steadfast determination, yet Ava approaches each day with resolve, prioritizing her studies while excelling on the softball field. “School comes first,” Ava emphasized, her dedication to academic achievement apparent.

Amidst the highs and lows of high school sports, Ava finds solace in the bonds forged with her teammates, a diverse group united by their shared passion for the game. “We had to be lights out by 10… but we weren’t tired so we all “snuck” into one of the other rooms and thought we were being sneaky but the coaches caught on. It was so funny and a great bonding experience which led to us winning against some hard teams. It definitely brought us closer together.”

Nevertheless, Ava’s journey hasn’t been without its challenges. A sudden transfer to Del City High School tested her tenacity, yet through sports, Ava found friendship and support, her determination shining through adversity. Guided by her coaches, Ava has evolved into a leader both on and off the field. “Coach Erin Graeber, she has been such an influence on me,” Ava said. “From the first day I came here, we clicked instantly.”

As she looks towards the future, Ava dreams of continuing her love for softball at a university. With college on the horizon and a world of opportunities ahead, Ava Vara stands ready to conquer whatever challenges lie ahead.
