Del City High School senior Kaylan Herlong is an active student-athlete and a valuable member of the varsity softball team.

“I’ve always played other sports like soccer and wrestling but softball has always been my favorite,” said Herlong.

The three-sport athlete (softball, wrestling, soccer) also participates with the Superintendents advisory board and STUCO. Herlong said Del City is a great place to be a student-athlete.

“Del City is a great place to be a student-athlete because not only am I getting better at what I love, I am also learning what it truly means to be a great leader,” said Herlong.

This season Herlong and her softball teammates continue to fight for every run, but Herlong said they are making some great memories together.

“What I enjoy most is, being a with my teammates and just playing the game. My favorite moment this season has to be when we won our first game because we ran out of chants and just started making beats and hyping up our teammate that was hitting. The athletes that you should be on the lookout for are my teammates Ryen Gaddis and Rayna Nash, from being involved in school to being exceptional athletes/leaders,” said Herlong.

In the classroom, Herlong said her favorite subject is English and she loves all of her teachers. The senior wants the Class of 2024 to be remembered for working hard and being the leaders of tomorrow.
