Jones’ Mason Weiher – Athlete Spotlight – Presented By BancFirst

An athlete’s life can be influenced by a variety of people. Whether it is a family member, friend, celebrity, or professional athlete, these are people that they look up to and want to model themself after. Mason Weiher plays baseball and football for Jones High School and he says that he has a few role models in his life.

“My dad and my brother have had a big impact on my life,” he said. “Because I can look up to my brother because he was an all-stater in football and baseball and they’re both always there for me. Another would be Trevon Diggs who plays on defense for the Dallas Cowboys. He is a really good cornerback in the NFL. Coach Martin has had the biggest teaching impact on my life because he taught me how to have a good work ethic.”

Sports is something that Mason takes seriously and he knows that in order to reach the goals he has laid out for himself, he has to be willing to do what it takes to get there.
“It takes a lot of time, effort, and hard work in order to be successful,” Weiher said. “One of my goals is to play at the next level. And I know that will take even more work, but if you want something, you have to be willing to work for it.”

Mason, who is a junior, says that playing for Jones is a big deal for him.

“It means a lot to be able to represent the town I have grown up in my whole life,” he said. “I just want to be able to be the best I can.”

The teammates that he plays alongside have also been important to the success that Mason has experienced.

“Braydon Scott is the teammate that I enjoy working with the most,” he said. “He is one of our best receivers and he pushes me to be better every time we practice. I think our offensive line is probably the most underrated part of our team because they work really hard but don’t get the credit they deserve.”
