Jones’ Tatum Scott – Athlete Spotlight – Presented by Blue & Gold Sausage Co.

There is a tremendous amount of work that athletes put in to prepare for their season. Whether it is in the weight room or at practice, the time they spend getting ready can have an impact on how their season goes. Tatum Scott is a cheerleader for Jones High School and she says that she knows the work pays off.

“It has taken many long hours of hard practices,” she said. “Also, the coaches that believe in me and our team have been vital. I have seen the rewards of hard work. We made it to the state cheer competition during my freshman year. That has been the highlight of my career so far.”

Along with cheer, the sophomore Scott is also a member of the school’s softball and golf teams. She says that she keeps herself motivated with the though of winning a state title with one of her teams.

Scott says that there are two people that have made an extraordinary impact on her life and she says that she would not be who or where she is today with out them.

“My parents are the biggest role models in my life,” she said. “They have taught me the importance of always working hard in sports and in life, even when I don’t feel like it.”

Liz Clark is the cheer coach at Jones. She says that Scott is an all around outstanding athlete and she excels at whatever she does.

“Tatum is hard working young lady,” said coach Clark. “Not only does she leave it all on the mat, but she leaves it all on the softball field as well. Tatum is always encouraging her teammates and is always stepping in wherever she is needed. She is always willing to try new things. Tatum can trade her bag and glove for a bow and pom poms at the drop of a hat and no one would ever know.”

Scott follows a number of people on social media but she has one person that she enjoys the most and looks up to.

“Jordy Bahl is a pitcher for the University of Oklahoma softball team,” she said. “She is always positive and inspiring. Not only about sports, but about her faith as well.”
