Midwest City’s Alexandra Dennis – Cheer Spotlight – Presented by Bruce Shook – State Farm

By Jayden Oyler
As a senior at Midwest City High School, Alexandra Dennis stands out not only for her bright spirit but also for her remarkable achievements as a cheerleader. In her final year of high school, she reflects on her journey and the life lessons she’s learned through cheerleading.

“An accomplishment that I am most proud of is when my team received first place for the dance portion of our routine at camp,” Dennis said.

Beyond trophies and accolades, Dennis has gained invaluable life skills through her sport.

“Cheer has taught me to be open to everyone’s ideas,” Dennis said. “It has taught me to bond with people I didn’t think I would get along with, and to overall find the good things in life.”

One of the key figures in her journey is her favorite teacher, Mrs. Friesen. “She is always happy and helps me with anything I need,” Dennis said. “Cheer-related or not, she is just always there for me.”

Dennis’s biggest inspirations are her sisters, Dayna and Sidney. Their dedication to their respective sports and their unwavering determination have motivated her to push her limits in cheerleading. “My oldest sister used to cheer,” Dennis said. “From listening to her, and watching my other sister’s determination in her sport, they have pushed me to be successful.”

Reflecting on her high school journey, Dennis also acknowledges the importance of teamwork. Her freshman year captain left a lasting impression, never giving up on her when she faced challenges.

As she proudly represents Midwest City High School as an athlete, Dennis cherishes the recognition that comes with wearing her school’s name and colors. “Being able to wear my school’s name and colors and people recognize that I’m from Midwest City is my favorite part about being an athlete,” she said.

In closing, Dennis gives a heartfelt shoutout, expressing her gratitude to her family, especially her sisters Dayna and Sidney, for their unwavering support and inspiration.
