Q & A with Jones’ Karizma Johnson Presented by Blue and Gold Sausage

Karizma Johnson

Jones High School

VYPE caught up with Karizma Johnson, one of the starters for the Jones basketball team to find out more about her and the team.

VYPE: Karizma, thanks for taking some time to answer our 9 questions. What grade are you in this season?

Johnson: I’m a junior this year.

VYPE: How long have you played the game of basketball?

Johnson: I have played on a team since I was in the 2nd grade.

VYPE: The team is 4-2 through December and ranked No. 4 in Class 3A. What do you love about this group you’re playing with this season?

Johnson: What I love the most is they all have very different personalities.

VYPE: What are your thoughts on where the team is heading into the second half of the season?

Johnson: The team is playing well. There are still some wrinkles to buff out losing key seniors, but we play hard, we’re very scrappy and plan to go far. Speed and pace have improved much more since the start of the season.

VYPE: So, the goal is always the state tournament, but what are your personal goals?

Johnson: My goal this season is to make it my breakout season and step up in a bigger role for the team.

VYPE: What other activities are you involved in at JHS?

Johnson: I am the drum major of JHS marching band and in the unity and inclusion club.

VYPE: Do you have a favorite subject or teacher in school?

Johnson: I don’t really have a favorite subject, but coach Harris’ personal finance class was fun, and my favorite teacher is our band teacher, Mr. Robbins.

VYPE: What are your plans after you graduate?

Johnson: After I graduate, I plan to go to college and obtain my doctorate working as a sports trainer for all athletes.

VYPE: What do you enjoy doing in your free time?

Johnson: Playing or listening to music and crocheting.
