Christian Heritage’s Kye Davis – 2022 HOMETOWN HERO – Presented By Raising Canes

By Derrick Smith

Being the best is what most people strive to be at whatever they are doing. High school athletes are no different. They put in the work and are dedicated to trying to be at the top in their sport. Christian Heritage Academy’s Kye Davis is an outstanding student-athlete, and he knows what it has taken to get there.

“It has taken a lot of heart to be successful in my sports,” he said. “I’ve lost positions or been replaced but I don’t ever let that get me down. I remember it’s not all about me and so I help the team wherever they put me. I want be the best I can be at any given task and that is what motivates me.”

Davis, a junior, competes in football, powerlifting, and disc golf for the Crusaders. The work that he has put in has shown itself when he is on the field. And he adds that while he does not have a specific school he enjoys playing, there is a certain kind of school he prefers.

“I have had some memorable moments, but my favorite one so far has been the football game when I had four and a half sacks in one game,” he recalled. “It was just my third game to play defensive end. We play some really good teams but my favorite teams to play are really any of the other private Christian schools. They are the most competitive games we have. They are always really good and so are we, so it’s always fun to see who comes out on top.”

Most high school students have at least one social media account and Kye is no different. He says that he does have a favorite person to follow.

“Steven Crowder is one of my favorite people to follow,” he said. “He has people with whom he disagrees. He isn’t afraid of having differing opinions and actually welcomes them which I think is really good.”

Davis is a member of the Chess Club at CHA, but he is also looking forward to joining a new group that is being formed.

“We are starting a disc golf club next year and I will be involved with that.”
