OFFENSE

With injuries piling up in the 2020 season, the McLoud Redskins are more than ready for 2021. “Very excited about this season. This is our most talented team we’ve had in a very long time,” head coach Rusty Hall said. The offense brings back eight starters from last year’s team. With a huge offensive line consisting of Tryce Lewis (6-3, 295, Jr.), Braden Osborne (6-3, 265, Jr.), and Ethan Isenhower (6-6, 325, Sr.), the offense should shine. Lewis is gaining attention from D1 schools such as Washington State, Akron, and University of Texas San Antonio. Clint Campbell (6-1, 210, Jr.) will play running back for the Redskins, where he found success last year. In 2020, he rushed for over 1,000 yards and 15 touchdowns.  At the receiver positions, Rylan Hall-Norton (5-10, 160, Sr.) and Coby Cardin (5-9, 155, Jr.) will return after combining for over 400 yards and two touchdowns last season. The Redskins are only starting two seniors on offense, but every player in the starting lineup has at least one year of varsity experience under their belt. Be ready to see a spread formation, establishing their run game with counters and power.

DEFENSE

Just like on offense, the Redskins defense will also return eight starters. Lewis starts on the defensive line, after a stellar sophomore season where he recorded 57 tackles, six sacks and forced two fumbles. Coach Hall believes that his defensive line is their team’s biggest strength. Campbell will line up at both the defensive end position and outside linebacker. Campbell didn’t play any defense last season, but coach Hall believes he has the potential to play defense at the next level. Alongside Campbell is Zak Osborn (6-1, 210, Jr.) who also will play both defensive end and outside linebacker. Osborn had 48 tackles, two sacks, and an interception his sophomore season. Hunter Lowe (5-10, 180, Sr.) will bring experience to the linebacker position, where he had 59 tackles, seven sacks, and one forced fumble during his junior season.  Kaiden Cue (5-8, 150, So.) had a breakout freshman season, recording 53 tackles, six passes broken up, and an interception. Fans can expect to see much more of this in the upcoming season. Also returning on defense is Hall-Norton. Last year, he only played offense, but can expect to see some time playing cornerback.
