Every athlete that steps out for competition wants to be successful. They want to be at their best when game day comes so that they are ready to give it their all. Halyn Browning is a junior at Luther High School and she knows what it takes for her to be her best. 

“It takes working everyday even on the days when I don’t want to,” she said. “My desire to win and my competitiveness keeps me motivated.”

At Luther, Browning is a member of the basketball, softball, track, and cheer teams. Outside of sports, she is also involved in Positive Peers and Student Council.

There are a few people in her life that have helped Halyn become the person that she is and she says that she is thankful for them. 
 “My parents have been the biggest role models for me,” she said. “They have always pushed me to be my best at whatever I am doing. Another would be Mrs. Grogan. She is always there and is more than just a teacher.”

Throughout her career, she has made a lot of memories with her teammates. Halyn says that recalling those moments makes her really happy. 

“I think my highlight moment would have to be when my team made it to state,” she said. “Everyone was celebrating and it was a really great moment. Anytime we beat Jones is always fun. I enjoy playing against them because they are our rivals.”

Halyn knows that her teammates have helped her grow and improve.

“Addison is someone that I like to go against in practice because she makes me go hard everyday,” she said. “I think that Carter is a little under-appreciated because she is always listening and I’m in the right spot and can knock down a shot when you need it.”
