When DeAngelo Irving was only five years old, he started playing football and has played every year since. Today he is a senior at Midwest City High School and is enjoying his final season of prep football.

The starting quarterback for the Bombers, Irving had a huge junior season putting up 4,296 yards with 49 touchdowns and is off to a great start for 2022. 

Irving said he loves his teammates and the bond they share on and off the field.

“I love how close of a bond we’ve built with each other. Any one of us will stop and drop everything we have going on to help another,” Irving said. “Friday nights are special because I get to do what I love and compete in front of the people I love.” 

The QB said beating Booker T. Washington in the quarterfinals his sophomore year is his favorite memory as a Bomber. Irving said Friday night in Midwest City is like nothing else in the state and during the week, he can’t imagine being a student anywhere else. 

“The environment is like no other. The staff is filled with a lot of people that love teaching and helping kids become better at life,” said Irving. “When I’m done playing for MWC, I will miss my teammates and coaches the most.” 

Irving plans to play at the next level and work towards earning a degree once his playing days at the high school level are done.
