Q & A with Mustang’s London Mills Presented by Excel Therapy

VYPE: What has your sport taught you that you use in your daily life?

London: Cheer has taught me how to work well with other people and how to keep pushing even when it’s hard.

VYPE: When and how did you first get into playing your sport?

London: I started cheering in 6th grade when I got the idea to try out for middle school cheer. I didn’t make the middle school team so I decided to join a competitive cheer team. After hard work and lots of practice I got better and was able to make the high school team my sophomore year.

VYPE: Who inspires you and why?

London: My mom inspires me the most because she has guided me through every part of life and has shown me how to be the bigger person.

VYPE: What has been your favorite memory of playing?

London: My favorite memory from cheer was when we played Owasso my sophomore year. The cheer and pom team made up the student section and we got to watch as our team pulled off a win when almost nobody thought we could do it!

VYPE: Why are you passionate about your sport?

London: I am passionate about cheer because it gives me a feeling of community and support that is hard to find anywhere else.

VYPE: Who is your favorite teacher from any grade and why?

London: I can’t choose one favorite teacher because I have two. Mr. Elmore taught my 8th grade English Class and Ms. Walker taught my freshman English Class and is my cheer sponsor. They are both my favorite teachers because they made English interactive and taught me lessons that apply in real life. They were also both very supporting and uplifting and made school enjoyable.

VYPE: What is the best advice that anyone has given you?

London: The best advice I have ever received is that everything happens for a reason. Even if bad things happen, good things can always come from them. You just have to trust in the Lord and his plan.

VYPE: What is your favorite part about representing your high school as an athlete?

London: My favorite part of representing my high school is influencing others. I’m always surprised how many people take notice in me and how little girls look up to me!

VYPE: What is your favorite part about being on a team?

London: My favorite part of being on a team is making memories with everyone and making lifelong friends!
