OFFENSE

Last season the Millers were a respectable 6-5 during a pandemic season with all sorts of hurdles. This season head coach Marshall Hahn takes over with a renewed focus and energy. Getting back to playing the game everyone loves could be a theme this season, but coach Hahn is expecting more from his players at Yukon. Five starters are back on the offensive side including Lane Parks (6-4, 280, Sr.), a VYPE Top 100 nominee. Parks will lead the way upfront for the Millers, as running back Makari Slaughter (5-7, 165, Sr.) wants to have that big year behind a solid offensive line. Slaughter rushed for 653 yards on 63 carries averaging 10.4 yards per carry. He also scored six touchdowns. Quarterback Brayden Dutton (6-1, 185, Sr.) threw for 326 yards and rushed the ball 117 times for 654 yards. Dutton will likely continue that path in the spread option offense. Joe Wythe (5-9, 190, Sr.) and Jesse Eakers (6-1, 190, Jr.) are expected to contribute in the run game as well. Joining Parks up front is Grady Walker (6-1, 250, Sr.). Overall, the offense has several pieces of the puzzle in place. Look for a few underclassmen to make impacts now as a few holes will be filled on the line.

DEFENSE

The strength of the team will come on the defensive side of the ball. Carson Creach (5-11, 215, Sr.) is a big-time player with All-State type numbers. Creach nabbed 103 tackles, two sacks, 12 tackles for loss and one fumble recovery. Creach will start at linebacker with Zac Stilwell (6-3, 235, Sr.) playing one of the key spots on the line. Stilwell grabbed 45 tackles with six QB hurries last year. The big man can also get that paw in the air and block passes. Caleb Hubbard (5-10, 250, Sr.) had three tackles to his credit last season and is expected to add to the totals this year. The secondary features Luke Harris (6-2, 200, Sr.) who recorded 62 tackles and Jaelyn Newman (5-10, 165, Sr.) who has 14 tackles and one pick. Also look for Keaton Hahn (5-11, 150, Sr.) to be as productive a player this season as he was in 2020. Hahn notched 56 tackles, two interceptions, three pass breakups, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery and he scored a touchdown. Logan Day (So.) is expected to have a big impact on special teams. Also look for Parker Means, Grayson Dinh and Cooper McSparrin.
